Cowboys Signing Dalvin Cook ‘Would Be Nice!’ - Dallas Beat Writer

In this story:
FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have their starter at running back thanks to the $10 million tagging of Tony Pollard. But the buzz in Minnesota suggests that standout Dalvin Cook might get cut.
And at least one DFW beat writer thanks Cook signing with Dallas to work in tandem with Pollard “would be nice.”
Writes Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: “This is now an Arms race and (the team’s) job is acquire the most talent. A duo of Pollard and Cook would be nice.”

The Cowboys have already engineered the sad farewell to Ezekiel Elliott, the insurance signing of Ronald Jones, the young promise of Malik Davis and Rico Dowdle, and the drafting of Deuce Vaughn.
The Minnesota Vikings, meanwhile, have been comfortable with the speculation that they might move on from Cook, their star running back who is about to turn 28, is due to count $14 million against the cap and just underwent surgery to hopefully fix a chronic shoulder problem.
Oh, and while Cook is the subject of trade gossip, Minnesota signed his backup - starter-caliber Alexander Mattison - to a two-year deal fully guaranteed at $6 million.
That all looks pretty transparent, too.
The matter of paying Cook is the largest obstacle here - but the Cowboys can make that happen if they wish.
The Cowboys do not harbor concerns about Pollard's leg rehab being a lingering one, and yet the temptation to add a co-star - at a reasonable price - is indeed a “nice one.”
In short: Present the Cowboys with a free-agency bargain on Dalvin Cook, and he merits targeting. Heck, his resume is superior even to that of Pollard. In that vein, the very minute that the Vikings really do cut Cook? You, dear reader, will be the first to know what the Cowboys really think about it.
