Dak dishes on his new Cowboy boots, his new throwing style - and his Sports Illustrated cover

FRISCO - I asked Dak Prescott about the honor of being a Sports Illustrated "cover guy'' for what is now the fifth time, and if it ever gets old. The good news? He's thrilled about it. The temporarily-less-than-good news?
I haven't read it yet,'' Dak tells me.
Do not worry, Sports Illustrated lovers. Prescott will get around to it, he promises. But he is a little busy, you know, what with patiently waiting for a new contract extension - part of the point of being on SI's "Money Issue'' - and what with leading his Cowboys to a 2-0 record as they prepare to play host to winless Miami on Sunday.
"Definitely, it never gets old,'' Dak says. "Sports Illustrated, when you think of sports, you think of the magazine, that's what it is. Growing up, always looking at Sports Illustrated. No matter the number of times, never gets old. Always very cool.''
Prescott's QB numbers are presently league-leading, and he gives credit to coaches, trainers and mentors for helping him learn "over the last year and a half of how to use my lower body, how to use everything from the ankle all the way up to the torque of my body, and allowing that all to make the ball to come out easy, free flowing,'' he says. "It's definitely paying off."
Dak says if we look at earlier-career film or even still pics we can see how as a passer he used to habitually shift too much/too soon weight to front foot .. but now keeping his back foot on the ground longer. https://t.co/meT4GqH9bH

Indeed, the muscle-memory re-training - which is in part about keeping weight balanced between his front foot and his back foot, the latter of which used to come up off the ground too soon - is so ingrained now that Prescott says he finds himself working on footwork even while simply walking around the house.
Dak touched on a lot of stuff with the media on Thursday, including his Campbell's Soup TV commercial featuring his brothers. I asked him which of the Prescott kids is the poorest actor.

“It was a ton of fun,'' he said. "It was an awesome experience. They are stars now. I’m the worst (actor of us three). They’re great.”
But yes, we gotta get back to the magazine cover, especially due to the irony of the Joneses working to convince negotiating players to consider the value of playing for "America's Team'' ... which was obviously a factor in SI choosing Dak.
"My apologies,'' Dak tells me regarding not having cracked open the latest issue. "Once I read it, I'll get back to you.''
