Dak Prescott: 'It Sucks, But Good' Can Come From Dallas Cowboys' Loss to Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys came up just short against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, but quarterback Dak Prescott - while conceding that "it sucks'' - is not phased by the result.

For a moment in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, it appeared that the host Eagles were attempting to give the game away to the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas got the ball with under a minute left deep in its own territory and had no timeouts in its possession. A pass interference call and roughing the passer, however, had essentially flipped the field. The Cowboys were now within striking distance to take a late lead as they trailed 28-23.

That's when miscues set in.

A sack of Dak Prescott followed by a delay of game penalty put the Cowboys about 30 yards away from the goal line, and with less than 10 seconds remaining, the final play was a pass to wideout CeeDee Lamb who was tackled just short of pay dirt.

It stings for Dallas, but Dak is not letting the loss fester in a negative way, at least for now.

"It sucks in the moment," Prescott said, "but there's a lot of good we can take [from the loss]. ... We're doing things the right way. It's just an inch here, an inch there. We've got to find a way to gain that."

No phrasing could be more true for the Cowboys after Sunday. Prescott himself stepped out of bounds on a two-point conversion play in the fourth quarter that would have made it a three-point game, and a short pass on fourth and goal was originally ruled a score before the call was reversed, spotting Luke Schoonmaker inches short of the goal line on the possession prior.

Those fourth-quarter plays make the old adage true: football is a game of inches, and Dak and the Cowboys have to find a way to make those inches move in their favor moving forward.

Sunday's loss does not end division title hopes in Dallas, but the 5-3 Cowboys have work to do. The 8-1 Eagles will still travel to Arlington for a rematch on Dec. 10, and there is plenty of football left for both teams.

For now, however, the loss stings, but it can be a learning opportunity for a football team that almost pulled out the win in Philly.
