FRISCO - The long-awaited rematch between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles will happen in front of a national television audience on "Sunday Night Football'' in Week 14. It was Nov. 5 at Lincoln Financial Field when the Eagles beat the Cowboys 28-23, turning Dallas away from the end zone twice in the final stretch of the game to hold on for the victory.

At 9-3, Dallas still sits a full game behind the 10-2 Eagles for both the lead in the NFC East and the best record in the conference. Also trailing Philadelphia for the top spot in the conference are the Lions and 49ers - who just downed the Eagles last week.

But as we head into December and come down the stretch, a revelation: Dallas, Philadelphia and San Francisco all have an outside chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs with Week 14 wins ... and help.

For the Cowboys, three scenarios could clinch a postseason berth:

1. A Cowboys win combined with a Vikings loss or tie, a Packers loss or tie, a Seahawks loss, a Buccaneers loss or tie, a Lions win or tie and a Rams loss or tie as long as Green Bay and Minnesota don't both tie.

2. A Cowboys win combined with a Vikings loss or tie, a Packers loss or tie, a Seattle loss, a Buccaneers loss or tie a Lions win or tie, a Saints loss or tie, as long as Green Bay and Minnesota don't both tie.

3. A Cowboys win combined with a Vikings loss or tie, a Packers loss or tie, a Seahawks loss, a Buccaneers tie, and a Lions win or tie as long as Green Bay and Minnesota don't both tie.

OK, so ... It's still pretty early to be talking about clinching a postseason berth, and there is much work to still be done in the regular season. Dallas is in the middle of its toughest stretch of the schedule and needs important wins to keep pace with the Eagles.

The Cowboys already have a loss in hand against both the 49ers and the Eagles, and those - combined with an inexplicable Week 3  loss to the Cardinals - give Dallas little room for error the rest of the way.

A win on Sunday night could go a long way to show the critics that Dallas belongs in the same conversation with the best in the league. It would mean consecutive wins over teams with winning records and that the Cowboys are on a hot streak at the right time. ...

Hopefully embarking on a long and deep playoff run.
