Cowboys Dak Prescott Drama Will 'Breed More Tension' in Dallas, Predicts ESPN

The drama surrounding Dak Prescott and Dallas Cowboys players' family members recently is only going to create more tension according to ESPN's Chris Canty.

Much has been made of the recent social media posts from Dallas Cowboys players' family members.

CeeDee Lamb's mother, Dak Prescott's brother Tad, and Micah Parsons' brother Terrence Jr. have all been vocal about a multitude of things, including Dak and his performance and his salary on social media in the wake of the playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers.

And after all of that noise, there hasn't exactly been a wave of locker-room-on-social-media support of Prescott. Is that significant? Do the players have to tweet their innermost thoughts? No, as those conversations are likely to already have happened behind closed doors.

But ESPN's Chris Canty thinks that with the nature of Dallas' offseason after the awful loss, coupled with this family drama, the tension at The Star is only going to grow.

“There are a lot more questions in Dallas that have to be answered in the way of leadership,” Canty said on ESPN’s GetUp. “I don’t know how that gets better with Mike McCarthy going into the season as a lame-duck coach, especially when you consider the offseason that the Dallas Cowboys have to have when you’re going to pay Micah Parsons, CeeDee Lamb, and Dak Prescott at the top of their positions.

“When I’m looking at this situation, I think the noise is only going to get louder. The families, those conversations that they’re having in private, that stuff is bubbling to the surface on social media and I don’t know how those players walk that back and so I think that’s only going to breed more tension moving forward.”

Should Cowboys fans be worried? Possibly.

We have heard all season - really, for multiple seasons with Dak as a leader - about how close the locker room is and what a "brotherhood" it has been; could something like this fracturing it?

The answer to that won't be known for some time, but with the playoff failure being the driving force behind this family drama and Dak being at the center of the backlash despite some forgetting that coordinator Dan Quinn's unit gave up 48 points, it could be a turbulent offseason in Dallas.

With so many things needing to be done this offseason as Prescott's contract situation looms as the biggest domino that could or couldn't fall, the Cowboys are going to have to try and make sure that this doesn't get out of control.

Not that they need our advice, but ... Regardless of social media, there are leaders in the Dallas locker room. They will all need to pull together to ensure that "Bro, Bro, Mama, Drama'' doesn't put stress on some seams that already seem frayed.
