Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott & Jerry Jones Discuss Eagles' 'Tush Push': 'I Was Surprised!'

In this story:
FRISCO - The "Tush Push" obviously works for quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles; it has become the defending NFC champions' signature offensive play, allowing them to exhibit dominant power with ultimate simplicity.
So why can't other teams - including the Dak Prescott-led Dallas Cowboys, who tried it and failed in "Monday Night Football" action in a 20-17 against the Los Angeles Chargers - execute it?
Prescott offered a concise and funny answer to his team's specific shortcomings on what is a variation on a simple quarterback sneak, only this one done with teammates not only shoving the defense backward, but also with teammates shoving the QB forward from behind.
"They didn't push my tush enough," Dak said, citing that very same "behind.''
During the contest, Prescott and the Cowboys attempted to use the effective play with the silly nickname on a fourth-and-1. Prescott - powerfully-built enough to have the play call make sense, as it certainly the case with its Philly master Hurts - plunged forward but came up short of the sticks.
Is everybody OK with the call? The Cowboys boss is.
“Well, I was surprised. I’m all for it and I liked the play,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan. “I think Dak is an excellent sneaker and I was just surprised that we were stopped. But I completely agreed that that’s the play to run.”
Is everybody OK with the legality of the play? The Cowboys boss is, once again.

“I’m okay with it. I like the play,” said Jones, aware that the NFL has considered banning it. “I think there’s a place for the play and I think you’ve got some options to run off of. ... There’s a lot of ways to approach this thing, but I’m all for implementing the emphasis on the scrum, the traditional scrum that you’d normally think the NFL and football in general, in colleges, tried to avoid. That doesn’t bother me as much on this play.”

As it happens, the "Tush Push'' is not the name favored in Philly, as the Eagles are using the term “Brotherly Shove” as a name for the play; they have even filed a trademark application for the phrase. Maybe someday the Cowboys can come up with their own funny nickname for it, too ... But first, next time,. Dak's tush needs more push.
