Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Coach Mike McCarthy 'Wants That 10th Win!'

The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles meet for the second time this season, and coach Mike McCarthy is looking forward to the challenge.

The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles' storied rivalry will add another chapter this week as there are a host of juicy storylines to follow. Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts are MVP candidates, Shaq Leonard chose the Eagles over the Cowboys, and the division lead is also up for grabs.

With a game of this magnitude being the second in 9-3 Dallas' "gauntlet" that sees them face after the Eagles, Buffalo, Miami, and Detroit, a lot is riding on this game as coach Mike McCarthy's favorite month of football begins.

“We want to get to this 10th win,” McCarthy said. “I really do like the stretch that we're getting ready to be on. When you look at the teams, obviously Philadelphia is all that matters right now, this is an excellent opportunity for us to play in playoff-type games without playoff consequences.

"I think that serves very well because December football is something that I've always enjoyed. It's a great indication of where you are as a team and what you need to do to get into the playoffs and be ready for the playoffs."

The 10-2 Eagles have been playing a catch-up style of football over the last couple of weeks as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills both had double-digit leads at halftime (but both missed potential game-winning touchdown throws). The Eagles "escaped" with wins in both.

But that type of football isn't sustainable ... and the San Francisco 49ers, when they got a lead, did what the Chiefs and Bills didn't - they put the foot on the throat and never looked back as they humbled the Eagles 42-19.

Philadelphia will have a point to prove after having their soul taken by their West Coast rivals, and the Cowboys have gained confidence after their 41-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

It is billed as a genuine heavyweight title fight with division and playoff implications and bragging rights hinging on the result.

“It's the Cowboys and the Eagles, I don't think you have to say anything more than that," McCarthy said.
