NFC East WR Rankings: How High for Cowboys & CeeDee Lamb?

The Dallas Cowboys have a deep wide receiver room, but can it compete with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East?

The Dallas Cowboys have a deep receivers room, led by one of the NFL's best in CeeDee Lamb. And the acquisition of Brandin Cooks certainly turned heads this offseason ...

But that's still not enough to trump the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Fansided, who says the Super Bowl runners-up have a better group than Dallas.

"The Eagles' depth consists of Greg Ward and Quez Watkins. Overall, though, the duo of A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith make this the best receiving core in the NFC East and arguably in the entire league," Fansided wrote.

Sure, maybe the Eagles deserve the No. 1 ranking when it comes to receivers. But the No. 2 Cowboys seem ready to bounce back from a sometimes-tough situation at the position in 2022.

"The Cowboys had issues at wide receiver throughout 2022, which magnified the stupidity of jettisoning Amari Cooper to Cleveland. Outside of Lamb and his All-Pro campaign. Injuries and finding a No. 2 option were a struggle," the outlet wrote.

CowboysSI.com broke the story as to why the Cowboys said goodbye to Cooper - and it's less "stupid'' if people read our "Shrunk'' piece. But yes, Dallas had just one wide receiver, Lamb, catch for over 600 yards. Two of the team's five leaders in receiving weren't even receivers, thanks to Tony Pollard and Dalton Schultz. Michael Gallup was coming back from injury. Noah Brown and T.Y. Hilton - neither of whom is back - helped early and late, respectively. And rookie Jalen Tolbert was a disappointment.

The team revamped in the offseason, though, with Cooks and with and hoped-for progress from second-year wideout Jalen Tolbert in preparation for 2023.

"If Tolbert can shake off his disappointing rookie season and bounce back in year two, Dallas could field one of the best and deepest WR (groups) in the league," the outlet concluded.

No matter what happens, the Cowboys have a relatively low bar to eclipse when asked to one-up last year's receiving group. And ranking second in the NFC East behind only the high-bar Eagles? That's a solid place to start.
