Cowboys Combine WATCH: CB DJ Turner Runs Top-10 Fastest 40-Yard Dash

Michigan Wolverines defensive back DJ Turner was blazing at the NFL Combine on Friday, likely resulting in some perked up eyebrows from the Dallas Cowboys and others.

The Dallas Cowboys should check their stopwatches.

On Friday morning, CowboysSI.com shared a mock draft from The Draft Network that had the Cowboys selecting Michigan cornerback DJ Turner with their second-round pick. Based on potential free agency departures, injuries and youth, adding talent to the secondary through the draft is a move that makes sense for Dallas.

But maybe it'll make even more sense when see they how blazing fast Turner was on Friday afternoon during his 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Of course, it also might simultaneously knock him out of Dallas' realistic second-round pick range.

Incredibly, Turner clocked an unofficial 4.27 finish at the 40-yard dash on Friday, which would put him in a multi-way tie for the eighth-fastest 40 time in combine history should it become official.

Take a look:

The Cowboys have managed to win big with most of their cornerback selections in recent drafts, as rookie Daron Bland led the team in picks last season while Israel Mukuamu made a noticeable impact as well. It's best to not have similar expectations immediately, but Dallas looks to do the same in this scenario by picking Turner at the end of the second round.

Dallas lost cornerback Jourdan Lewis, a fellow Wolverine, to a Lisfranc injury he suffered in late October that ended his season. He was coming off a career year in 2021, but got the worst end of the injury bug.

Anthony Brown, who tore his Achilles this past season as well, is set to enter unrestricted free agency and has a cloudy future in Dallas.

Adding Turner to a young, but budding secondary that could be without some familiar faces could prove to be smart move for the future. On an ultra-competitive Michigan team that competed at one of the highest levels in the country the past two seasons, Turner totaled 69 total tackles, 17 passes defended and three interceptions during his time in Ann Arbor.

But at this point, he's set to gain more popularity based on just three numbers that will follow him throughout his career and potentially put him out of Dallas' reach.
