Cowboys Urged to Trade for Titans RB Derrick Henry: 'Firepower!' Dreams Dez Bryant

The Dallas Cowboys going all-in with a move for Tennessee Titans star running back Derrick Henry? That might not be the vision of the two teams. But Dez Bryant can see it.

FRISCO - To many, the Dallas Cowboys need a "power back,'' which can be interpreted as a move to "re-engage'' with the recently released Ezekiel Elliott. But the Cowboys ex Dez Bryant has another idea, which is why he seems to be pushing Dallas to go all-in with a move for one of the biggest and baddest power backs of all time in Tennessee Titans star Derrick Henry.

Bryant urged the Cowboys to go after Henry - like Zeke a two-time rushing leader - in a weekend tweet, insisting that the move would be a win-win for the involved parties. And as Dez rattles off all of the names? Hey, it sounds like fantasy fun.

“Cowboys get Derrick Henry with the supporting cast they have,'' Bryant writes. "(Dak) Prescott, (Tony) Pollard, (CeeDee) Lamb, (Brandin) Cooks, (Michael) Gallup and sprinkle in (KaVontae) Turpin and (Deuce) Vaughn.

"Derrick Henry will bring the perfect balanced to execute all of the firepower the Cowboys have.''

Do we have any arguments against how fun that sounds? Maybe only the fact that there's only one football to go around. But Dez isn't done explaining ...

“That’s a tough offense with a tough defense,'' he writes. "Explosive Strength Balance and Speed. ... I like the idea of this (for this year's) Cowboys team.”

Unfortunately, Bryant is skimming over a few details, including the fact that Henry is 29 - not optimal, even though at 6-3 and 250 he's shown no signs of real decline. Also problematic: Henry is set to hit the Titans salary cap for $16 million this season - one of the reasons there has been speculation about a trade.

And his salary is $10 million, so a team trading for Henry would have to compensate Tennessee and pay the "other'' running back the same that Pollard is making, $10 million. Would that be a "go all-in'' move? Sure. Which only leaves one problem: Despite all the reports that linked Dallas to the Titans before the NFL Draft (none of which really turned out to be true), Titans GM Ran Carthon is denying there are plans to move on from the star.

Said Carton recently: “There was an erroneous report that came out. I’ve spoken to Todd (France), Derrick’s representative, and we’re in a good place.''

The Titans aren't in a "good place'' in the same way Dallas is - at least not in the mind of Dez, the ex-Cowboys star who still loves his old team. But this idea seems more like "fantasy firepower'' than it does real life.
