How’s Cowboys QB Dak Ranked by NFL Coaches & Players?

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has the respect of NFL higher-ups in a new league ranking.

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott - in terms of “rating him” - might be the NFL’s most divisive study subject. But … According to NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players (arguably the most-educated opinions), Prescott is a top-10 quarterback in the league.

In a poll asking about the NFL's top quarterbacks posted by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the two-time Pro Bowler Dak moved up from 10th to ninth entering this season. He appeared on nearly 60 percent of the ballots but never higher than seventh.

Another interesting note from the poll; Prescott's chemistry with CeeDee Lamb is considered to be substantially better than other Cowboys; Dak posted a 93 QBR when targeting Lamb, and a 57 when targeting other teammates.

With head coach Mike McCarthy taking over the play-calling duties in 2023, there will be some notable changes to how the Cowboys go about their business offensively this season.

In theory, less will be placed on Prescott's shoulders with McCarthy's "Texas Coast Offense'' featuring more short, crisp passes that allow the skill position players to do their thing in open space.

Prescott vows to improve on his NFL-high 15 interceptions (and two in the playoffs) from last season. The offense will also undoubtedly look different without running back Ezekiel Elliott and with the addition of wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes topped the poll as the league's best quarterback. Last season, Mahomes won his second regular-season MVP, his second Super Bowl MVP and his second Lombardi Trophy. Expectations remain high for the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs, who are favorites to again win the title.

The Cowboys last Super Bowl title was almost 30 years ago. Prescott has led Dallas to consecutive dozen-win campaigns for the first time since 1992-95... Can he and the Cowboys push deeper into the postseason this year? The pool suggests it is so.
