FRISCO - Day 2 of Dallas Cowboys minicamp at The Star featured a revelation. No, not so much in terms of what the Dak Prescott-led aerial game might accomplish - though the QB and top receivers CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks were pretty spectacular - but rather in what Dak and the QB's have been cooking up in their spare time.

Come with CowboysSI.com inside Ford Center for our on-site observations that lead to our Top 10 Takes ...

1 - "The Texas Coast Offense.'' The West Coast offense? Kinda. But the Cowboys quarterbacks room has decided to reflect on how coach Mike McCarthy is taking “a little bit of what we’ve done in the past and just obviously marrying them together with a lot of detail,” Dak Prescott said.

And so the QBs have christened this “The Texas Coast Offense.”

Nobody asked us, but "The Tex-Coast Offense'' is much more clever. Moving on ...

2 - Wide receiver CeeDee 'Best in NFL'? Lamb had a terrific twisting catch ... but then came up with a hitch in his git-along, eventually getting looked at by the athletic trainers. Overall, though, how is Lamb doing?

“I say it, I believe it, I think he can be the best receiver in this league,'' Dak said. "He’s really only scratched the surface of what he’s capable of doing. … This is just the beginning for him.”

3 - And the No. 2 guy? Brandin Cooks on a 9-route? Easy pickin's for Prescott, who made a perfect throw for a 60-yard touchdown. Cooks and Dak seem to be getting along nicely ...

Said Cooks of the play: “It was good, just to be able to get a little bit of the taste of just really how Dak can, I mean, he can throw any ball.''

Said Dak of the play: “It’s beautiful. Yeah, real speed. …For him to be able to do it every play, every route, the start of every route — the cornerbacks, defense, they don’t know what they’re getting. It all looks the same. I’m thankful he’s here.”

4 - D-Line experimenting? Micah Parsons on the edge? Of course. A little Leighton Vander Esch there, too? Sure. The signing of another defensive end? Yup, Dallas did that as well on Wednesday with the addition of Nigerian-born local kid Ben Banogu. The 2019 second-round pick and former TCU standout played in 50 games over the last four years with the Indianapolis Colts and at 27 is a reclamation project here.

5 - Where's Micah? Parsons spent a lot of time going through linebacker drills on Wednesday. Oh, and he spent some time on the sideline with the Jones family, too ... and we are serious when we tell you ...

Micah and Jerry have a secret handshake. Shhhh!

6 - Pollard policy and Cook cut. With Tony Pollard still rehabbing from injury - though he should be fine for training camp - we get the Dalvin Cook fascination. He’s been told as of Thursday that the Vikings are cutting him.

Would the Cowboys turn their cap plan upside-down to have two expensive running backs?

We think instead Dallas is moving toward trying to do a deal with Pollard to make him an affordable long-term guy here. But we will monitor.

7 - Next RB? Based on the Wednesday rotation, Dallas isn’t exactly handing the No. 2 job to Ronald Jones. Malik Davis and Rico Dowdle did first-team stuff, while RoJo seemed grouped with rookies Deuce Vaughn and Hunter Luepke.

7- Tristan Vizcaino update. He was solid again, going 7 of 9 on field goals while trying to not look over his shoulder at his inevitable competition.

9 - KaVontae as KR? Turpin is probably the punt-return guy. But on kick returns, Turpin and rookie Deuce Vaughn are both working … and coach “Bones” Fassel is supervising a drill that has the players fielding the ball inside the 5-yard line - no fair catch, despite the new rule.

Gut feeling: Turpin has already stated his disinterested in fair-catching. ANC we bet Fassel agrees.

10 - Football Analytics. The Cowboys are hiring John Park from the Colts staff as the director of stragetic football ops … meaning, “Analytics Guy.” Dallas has long had a robust analytics department, a good idea … as long as coaches still use their “situational guts” on game day.
