Dallas Cowboys' 'Texas Coast Offense' Comes to Life; Can It Win At Philadelphia Eagles?

The Dallas Cowboys emerged from their bye week, looking like a different beast. After the first six games, the Cowboys offense had been up-and-down and lacked consistent, explosive plays.

Well, against the Los Angeles Rams in a 43-20 blowout, the new "Texas Coast Offense' showed signs of life.

Coach Mike McCarthy and the offensive staff seem to have made some adjustments during the bye week, as Dak Prescott and the offense made several explosive plays that many had been waiting to see.

On the first drive, Prescott had four plays of 14+ yards, including an 18-yard touchdown pass to Jake Ferguson, but what followed in the half was what fans had been waiting for all season - explosiveness.

Prescott had completions of 17 and 26 yards, along with a 22-yard touchdown to CeeDee Lamb, as there was no "Dink and Dak" to how the offense went about its business in the first half.

The "game script" in the second half dictated how the offense ran, but the damage was done as 33 first-half points tell its own story.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense burst to life in the 43-20 blowout win over the Rams.

Said McCarthy: “You have a goal to improve coming off the bye week. ... It’s definitely something to build off of.''

Coming into the game, the Rams' defense allowed an average of 220 passing yards per game. However, they had no answer for Prescott, who threw for 304 yards with only six incompletions.

Additionally, the Rams' defense had only given up four passing touchdowns through seven games - Dak had four against them while having a passer rating of 133.7. Is that good? It seems good.

McCarthy's offense must now replicate that level of performance, and it won't get any easier. Next are the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, where the offense will get another serious test of its credentials.

The 11 consecutive wins for the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium is the NFL’s longest active home winning streak, and in their three home wins this season, the Cowboys have outscored their opponents 111-33. Meanwhile, in their five wins this year, they've outscored the enemy 171-50.

“That’s what we’re looking for week in and week out,” said "Texas Coast Offense'' centerpiece Lamb. “That’s how we should play. That’s more of a stepping stone of what’s to come.”
