Cowboys Rookie Viliami Fehoko 'Making Noise' Behind Micah & Tank?
When the Dallas Cowboys drafted San Jose State product Viliami Fehoko in the fourth-round of the NFL Draft, they received, in his self-evaluation, "the complete package."
The reigning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, Fehoko brings a fine resume, including 22 sacks over the past three years, 47 tackles for loss and 12 pass deflections at the line of scrimmage.
And CBS Sports believes with his combination of size, athleticism and love for hitting people, the 23-year-old could make an immediate impact for the Cowboys.
"Fehoko has looked ready for the NFL for years," CBS Sports writes. "Heck, as a sophomore in 2020, he had six sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. And his productivity only improved from there. Such a steady pass rusher in college, and Fehoko boasts serious NFL size at nearly 6-foot-4 and 276 pounds. He has long arms too and deploys them awesomely at the point of attack. He's a mid-level athlete, yet won over and over in college. As a rotational defensive end in Dallas, Fehoko is going to make noise as a rookie."
Dallas has already envisioned a plan to "hit the ground running" with the fourth-round pick, stating that he'll play between the edge and 3-technique.
And under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, the rookie has the potential to learn from one of the league's best at developing interior lineman.
Fehoko has also been working "against'' somebody - that would be, among others, future Hall of Fame tackle Tyron Smith, and our Mike Fisher reports that "Junior'' might still have a noticeable bruise on his chest from being "punched'' (in pass-blocking drills) by Tyron.
With the opportunity learn from Quinn (and Tyron!) and shadow elite edge rushers such as Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence, it may only be a matter of time before Fehoko is a helpful piece of this Dallas defense.
