It's Cowboys Legend DeMarcus Ware vs. Tony Romo at Invited Celebrity Classic Golf

Former Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo and DeMarcus Ware Lead Golf Field at Invited Celebrity Classic

DALLAS - Dallas Cowboys legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame member DeMarcus Ware will make his return to the course at the Invited Celebrity Classic in Las Colinas this spring. The nine-time Pro Bowl selection will compete against his former Cowboys teammate Tony Romo.

In 2023, as onlookers held their breath, former Dallas All-Pro quarterback Romo mounted an incredible final round comeback to become the Invited Celebrity Classic Golf champion.

This spring, Romo is back to defend his title against an impressive celebrity field, highlighted by Ware, former MLB All-Star pitcher Roger Clemens), former NFL All-Pro running back Reggie Bush and Hall of Famer Tim Brown.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to defend my title in the 2024 Invited Celebrity Classic presented by Choctaw Casinos & Resorts next April,” Romo said. "The most exciting thing is the significant charitable impact in our community.”

More star-power additions competing for charity include Ray Allen, Joe Carter, Vince Carter, Mardy Fish, Blair O’Neal, Larry the Cable Guy and Annika Sörenstam.

The tournament will support two North Texas youth charities this year: Momentous Institute, and the First Tee Greater Dallas and First Tee Fort Worth. In its first two years, the tournament has generated nearly $500,000 in charitable donations and the economic impact is estimated at nearly $3 million for the greater Dallas area.

It also boasts a professional prize purse of $2.2 million, plus a $500,000 celebrity prize purse.

Romo, who holds the Cowboys' record for all-time passing touchdowns, can't wait to play in front of the "electric crowd" at Invited’s Las Colinas Country Club on April 15-21. The unique PGA TOUR Champions tournament includes a field of 78 PGA TOUR Champions players, 40 celebrities and 10 Invited Member Qualifiers.

Ware, who played nine of his 12 NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos, was added to the team's Ring of Honor this season. Ware led the Cowboys in sacks for eight seasons.

While the Cowboys are prepping for the NFL Draft on April 25–27, fans can watch Ware and Romo free of charge for all three days of competition.
