Drew to Dallas? Cowboys Scouting Report on Arkansas 'Hybrid Do it All' Sanders

The Dallas Cowboys hold the No. 26 pick in the draft and NFL Network's Lance Zierlein thinks that Arkansas linebacker Drew Sanders would be a welcome addition to Dan Quinn's unit.

The Dallas Cowboys have a host of options when it comes to their first pick in the NFL Draft at No. 26. Many have Dallas taking a tight end, offensive lineman, or receiver.

But...

NFL Network's Lance Zierlein thinks there is a defensive player that would perfectly fit Dan Quinn's stellar defense - Arkansas standout Drew Sanders.

"For a linebacker prospect, I would say, Drew Sanders, Dallas Cowboys," Zierlein said on NFL Network. "There's a lot here that I like. I like the fact that he has similar size components and athletic components to Leighton Vander Esch.

"He is a fantastic blitzer, he was a five-star prospect at Alabama. He was an edge rusher, he moved inside to linebacker. He's really good when you line him up in the A gap, B gap, he can rush off the edge. You can bring some fire off the edge. I love Drew Sanders to the Cowboys in that spot."

Looking at Sanders' season for the Razorbacks, he had career highs in tackles (103), tackles for loss (13.5), and sacks (9.5). He also grabbed an interception and had three forced fumbles.

Looking at Dallas's defensive firepower already, adding Sanders to a group that contains Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Sam Williams, Dorance Armstrong, Donovan Wilson, Dante Fowler, and Osa Odighizuwa, all of which accounted for 47 sacks last season, the unit has freighting potential.

Leighton Vander Esch has re-signed and Anthony Barr is not likely to be on the team next season, so Dallas has a spot open to take Sanders in the first round. Jabril Cox and Damone Clark are other young talents on the roster, and Sanders would provide serious competition.

We know that Quinn loves his defensive playmakers, and Sanders is just that, and like Vander Esch, the Arkansas star is a sideline-to-sideline menace.

While much of the focus has been on Dallas taking an offensive weapon in the first round, Sanders is an interesting option. Being from Arkansas (and being a Dallas native) and already having a 30 visit with Dallas, Jerry Jones might have his heartstrings pulled by the thought of adding Sanders to the Dallas roster.
