OXNARD, Calif. - A huge part of the planet still doesn't care about Twitter, and what a blessed and peaceful existence that must be. For others among us, though, the social media site - now under the new management of quirky billionaire Elon Musk - is woven into our every-day life.

And that group includes our old Dallas Cowboys pal Dez Bryant. So. ... Suddenly, Musk is announcing that Twitter will change from the "blue bird logo'' ("Twitter,'' get it?) that has been in place since its 2006 inception. That of course, is Musk's business - literally.

Additionally, though, along with the alteration of the well-recognized insignia of a multi-billion dollar company comes the reveal from Musk that the move will come with the unveiling of an "Interim X logo.''

And that's where Bryant comes in. The joke got started on Twitter among football people that maybe Dez deserves to get royalties from the change given that the former NFL wide receiver used to celebrate touchdowns by crossing his arms to make an "X'' gesture.

"Throwing Up the X!'' as it was famously termed by Bryant, who is now playfully inquiring about his legal right to own a letter of the alphabet.

"Imma have to figure that one out because I do own the X," Bryant said, kiddingly. ... though some fans made the goofy mistake of taking Bryant seriously. (Again: No, you guys. Nobody - not even Elon Musk - can own a letter of the alphabet.)

"Can I have fun?? I’m asking politely," Bryant replied to a Twitter user.

Yes, Dez. You can have fun. (Like CowboysSI.com is about to have here in Oxnard at Cowboys training camp.) And yes, Elon. You can have fun, too. ... though we're not sure what motivates you to think this is "fun.''
