Inside How CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott 'Raise the Standard' for Dallas Cowboys

It was a record-breaking day in Arlington on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys crushed the New York Giants 49-17 at AT&T Stadium, and two players in particular made that day possible.

Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb connected 11 times for 151 yards and a score on the day, both setting new franchise records in the process. It's always a positive sign when a quarterback and wide receiver have chemistry, but does a performance like Sunday's have a broader effect on a roster?

Head coach Mike McCarthy thinks so.

“It’s really cool when you see CeeDee, or a player, just really hit his stride," McCarthy said postgame. "You know what’s great for the Dallas Cowboys is that he’s going to be doing that for a long time. I think with Dak Prescott, you have a guy that you can grow with. Not only is it great for those two, but it’s good for the whole group.

“It raises the standard that everybody has to play to.”

"The standard" at The Star is winning a Super Bowl, something that has not been accomplished since the 1995 NFL season, but this goal becomes more attainable if Dak and CeeDee can replicate the success they've seen over the last month.

That should go without saying, but success can be contagious. Perhaps McCarthy is right; maybe the explosion of offense from these two can go on to positively affect other players on the roster, like running back Tony Pollard who has struggled at times in 2023.

It's always easier to build on momentum following a win, especially one that comes within the division. But performances like Sunday's aren't just about one or two players; they're about the team as a whole, and that's what's so promising about the Cowboys' win over the Giants.

Can Dallas keep it up? The schedule is favorable this week, for sure, as the Cowboys travel to face the struggling Carolina Panthers in Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. CT on Sunday, and the game will be televised on FOX.
