Micah Parsons on Hurt Wrist, 'Disappearing in Africa' & Hall of Fame: A Cowboys Day in the Life

Micah Parsons? His wrist is fine, his goals are high and if the Dallas star ever "disappears,'' we'll know to check Africa. "A Cowboys Day in the Life'' ...

Every football day with Micah Parsons is an adventure. But not as much of adventure as what the Dallas Cowboys' young superstar has planned with a "disappearance in Africa.''

A Day in the Life of Parsons, in three parts ...

MICAH'S WRIST: Parsons on Saturday after pulled up with an injury and seemed to be in some pain, grabbing at his wrist. A leading Defensive Player of the Year candidate and team MVP candidate hurt at training camp?

“Yeah, I was just being stupid and just jammed my joint,'' said Parsons following a drill that featured him punching with a boxing glove. "I’m pretty fine, though. Nothing too serious right there.”

Parsons has been an iron man in his two-year career in Dallas and this year added some bulk to better endure the physicality that results from moving from linebacker to defensive end. A "boxing glove injury'' would not be the way to end that streak, and fortunately - with the Cowboys players off on Sunday - everything is fine.

MICAH IN AFRICA: “I’m big on disappearing,'' Parsons told GQ magazine of his plan to one day travel to Africa without telling everybody. "I just want to experience the culture the best I can, really.''

There are a couple of issues here: One, Parsons' profile is likely too high for him to be fully hidden. And two, given Parsons' habit of speaking so often (and so entertainingly) about his opinions and exploits ...  We cannot envision him visiting Africa without tweeting about it.

MICAH TO CANTON: Not too many third-year players talk so openly about someday being in the Hall of Fame. But with Cowboys legends Demarcus Ware and Chuck Howley getting inducted this weekend, it was a natural point of Micah conversation.

“I don’t think I just want to make the Hall of Fame, I want to be known as one of the greatest Hall of Famers,” Parsons said. “There’s categories to everything. There’s good, there’s great, and there’s perfect. … I don’t want to just be mentioned in the Hall of Fame. Yeah, that’s a great accolade, but I want to be one of the greatest in the Hall of Fame.”
