FRISCO - The "NFL Coaching Carousel,'' slowly but surely, is morphing as it always does into a game of "Musical Chairs.''

Will Dan Quinn end up with a comfortable place to sit?

Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Quinn has interviewed with the Washington Commanders, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks for their head coaching vacancies.

And as if late Wednesday/early Thursday, some important movement, on three fronts ...

belichick, harbaugh and quinn

1 - The Chargers have hired Jim Harbaugh away from Michigan. So that job is filled. (As he leaves the Atlanta Falcons empty-handed for now.)

2 - The Titans cancelled planned second interviews with a handful of candidates (Quinn included) and pulled the trigger on Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, the son of former Cowboys aide Bill Callahan.

3 - And the Seahawks are hitting the accelerator by inviting Quinn to Seattle for a second interview.

In the earlier stages of the process, Quinn and others have been on Zoom calls. This face-to-face advances the ball between two parties that are known to be interested in a reunion, as Quinn was once a Super Bowl coordinator in Seattle.

CowboysSI.com has reported that the Cowboys have all along planned on this being the year that Quinn finally departs, and are prepared for the change - while at the same time fond of the idea of his return should be not get/accept a job elsewhere.

Washington is said to be leaning toward Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. A leading candidate in Carolina could be Seattle offensive coordinator Dave Canales. Atlanta has an opening but has not interviewed Quinn, the former Falcons head coach, amid rumors that Bill Belichick is their best match. So the Titans and the Seahawks represent the narrowing field of possibilities for Quinn and the rest.
