'I'm the Old Man Now!' Dak Prescott - Almost 30 - Dances, Teaches & Talks Cowboys Interceptions

"Yeah, 1000 percent!'' Dak Prescott says of appreciating his Dallas Cowboys opportunity as he gets ready to turn 30. "You don't have forever to play this game. I'm blessed with each moment I get. There's definitely a sense of urgency.''

FRISCO - Dak Prescott on Saturday morning hosted his annual ProCamps outing for kids here at Ford Center at The Star, and as always was high-energy when it comes to interacting with the children - even demonstrating to him his famous "Dak Dance.''

"I'm the old man now!'' the centerpiece of the Dallas Cowboys told us in between his enthusiastic teaching sessions with the kids. "It's fun, challenging at times, to make sure I stay connected and 'stay in the now' with what's 'cool' and what's not.''

In this case, he wasn't talking about "staying connected'' with, say, 9-year-olds; he's talking about his Cowboys teammates, for as he enters his eighth NFL season while approaching his 30th birthday (July 29), he is also a "teacher'' to younger members of the Dallas roster, especially as head coach Mike McCarthy installs the new "Texas Coast Offense.''

Prescott also visited with us about the criticism of him that comes as a result of his league-leading 15 interceptions in 2022, accepting blame for the downward trend while also pointing out that better communication will be part of the new attack.

"Mike is doing a hell of a job teaching everybody on how to be on the same page here,'' Prescott said.

Some are sleeping on Prescott and an uptick in performance while suggesting after that interceptions "are part of his DNA" ... despite the pick totals clearly being an outlier. Of course, he and the Cowboys offense now need to prove that.

Said an unbothered Dak of the national media critics: "They talk about us (the Cowboys) every day. The interceptions are a natural (go-to) to talk about.''

We think by virtue of this offense, less will be asked of Dak; CowboysSI.com has suggested how "playing like a rookie'' can help Prescott. But what it will also do is ask others to share in the heavy-lifting. CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard will be the primary helpers. Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup can be featured, too.

Dak and the Cowboys have talked annually - for more than a half-decade with him in charge and for a quarter-of-a-century in total - about Super Bowl urgency. It's a natural question, and it popped up again Saturday ... especially with birthday No. 30 around the corner.

"Yeah, 1000 percent!'' Prescott said. "You don't have forever to play this game. I'm blessed with each moment I get. There's definitely a sense of urgency.''
