ARLINGTON - Cooper Rush, Dak Prescott’s backup, entered the weekend being listed as "questionable'' due to an illness, making him the only physical question mark for today's Dallas Cowboys playoff game against the visiting Green Bay Packers here at AT&T Stadium.

That meant planning for Trey Lance to practice and prepare to be QB2.

And now we have the official Dallas decision: Rush, after not practiced this week, is "feeling OK,'' a source tells CowboysSI.com. ...

And he's active. So Dallas is going with Rush. The Cowboys' inactives are ... Trey Lance (emergency third QB), Eric Scott, Asim Richards, Matt Waletzko, Jalen Brooks, Tyrus Wheat and Junior Fehoko Jr.

Lance, Dak, Rush

Lance, Dak, Rush

We will take that as a "yes'' regarding Rush's plan to play today ... with the hope that "OK'' doesn't mean a lingering issue or one about to reoccur.

Of course, this is a non-issue should MVP candidate Dak Prescott, who leads the NFL in touchdown passes, is kept upright. And with Dallas' O-line healthy enough to put its "Best 5'' on the field today, the chances of that seem solid.

The Cowboys traded for Lance back in September, sending a fourth-round draft pick to the 49ers with the plan to develop the QB who was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. ... a move that did not work out in San Francisco as they moved on to Brock Purdy.

The Cowboys believe that "development'' has occurred. Lance is under contract ($5 million guaranteed) for next year, as is the reliable Rush, and both can still figure in the club's 2024 plan. But immediately?

What needed to be figured out was who'd be Dak's backup. And as long as Cooper Rush keeps "feeling OK,'' now we know.
