Jerry Jones' catchphrase, “Deadlines Make Deals” may not work here as an NFL source updates CowboysSI.com on Tony Pollard contract negotiations.

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have until 3 p.m. Monday to ink a long-term deal with Tony Pollard, but despite the Jerry Jones catchphrase, “Deadlines Make Deals,” an NFL source tells CowboysSI.com that as of Sunday night there is “no movement” in negotiations.

As CowboysSI.com has noted, in this time of "the devaluation of the running back,'' there has always been a real possibility that Monday would come and go without a bigger payday for Pollard - who is slated to make $10 million for one year as per his franchise tag.

This is no insult and this is no punishment. The $10 million is far more than he's made in his career combined. … and he will now likely be a free agent a year from now.

So while other players like Saquon Barkley of the Giants fight off franchise tags, Pollard is still in a comfortable spot as he theoretically “bets on himself” for the future.

We've been told that the leg injury sustained in the playoffs is a non-issue and that he plans on working when Dallas reports to camp in Oxnard late this month.

So …  Can Pollard sustain his Pro Bowl success this fall? Dallas is rooting for that, just as Pollard is 26, is planning to beat the norm - as the shelf life of running backs in the NFL is dwindling.

While an extension would display confidence in the new running back who takes over full-time for the released Ezekiel Elliott, CowboysSI.com has suggested all along that rumors about a “three-year, $27 million deal” do not seem to be emanating from here inside The Star.

So as it stands now? Dallas will seemingly live with the idea that the $10 mil for one year is "whopping sum'' enough. … and Pollard will have to live with it as well.
