'The Star' Wars: How Will Micah Parsons Be Used by Cowboys New 'Yoda' Zimmer?

Having overseen the work of some of the greatest defenders in Dallas Cowboys history, Mike Zimmer has an intriguing decision to make concerning the fate of Micah Parsons.

You will go to the Arlington system ... there, you will learn from Zimmer.

Micah Parsons more than likely did not receive a Force-fueled vision from a ghost of Dallas Cowboys past upon Mike Zimmer's return to the Pokes, but it's not exactly out of line to call the newly-reinstated defensive coordinator The Star's Yoda.''

Over Zimmer's original 13-year term in Texas (1994-2006), he oversaw the development of some of the more memorable names in Dallas' defensive history (from Darren Woodson to DeMarcus Ware to Roy Williams). He now has a chance to work with one of the prime talents in not only North Texas but the NFL as a whole, as the modern Cowboys feature Micah Parsons, one of the deadliest defenders pro football has to offer amidst an offensive revolution.

Fortunately for the Cowboys, Parsons, at the very least, appears to approve of bringing Zimmer back. That support provides a crucial check to the team's offseason to-do list, as Parsons is preparing to work with a new defensive coordinator for the first time thanks to Dan Quinn's departure for Washington.

"I think he's had a top defender in each (era) with the Cowboys," Parsons said. "It's going to be real exciting."

Zimmer won't have to do much fostering for Parsons, but an intriguing decision nonetheless looms: moving forward, will Parsons, ever the deadly pass rusher, be listed as a defensive end or linebacker?

In his first statements in updated Cowboys apparel, Zimmer preached patience on Parsons, refusing to divulge his plans to the public before speaking with the defender himself.

"One of the things I would hate to do right now is to tell you how I'm thinking about playing him without talking to him and letting him think, 'OK, this is what we're thinking about doing with you, Micah,'" Zimmer said. "I don't think shouldn't tell you guys first before I tell him."

Even with Parsons' plethora of accomplishments, Zimmer still views the prized defender as prime clay.

"He's a terrific player," Zimmer remarked. "You watch him on tape and he makes some unbelievably athletic plays. You know, at this point, at the stage right now, I'm trying to figure out, get the coaches in here, and then we can sit down."

And then? "The Star'' Wars can begin, with "Yoda'' guiding the way.
