‘The Hangover'? Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott: ‘No Time for Loss to Linger’

The Dallas Cowboys' 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers was a brutal reality check and such was the gravity of the loss that many feared the emotions could carry over into Dallas' next game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

For quarterback Dak Prescott, his team doesn't have time for the emotional hangover.

"The last thing we can do is let that linger into the week, especially with the extra day to put it behind us," Prescott said. "We watched the film and closed the book, and moved on to the Chargers, which is a really good team. You don't have time in this league to have a hangover — even after a game like that, that's disappointing as it is."

No matter how you slice it, from the first snap, Dallas was pushing uphill to stay with San Francisco. On offense, the Cowboys couldn't get anything going, while the defense struggled to contain the embarrassment of riches Kyle Shanahan had at his disposal.

After having confidence in the game plan heading into the Sunday night clash, the Cowboys were brutalized and manhandled in a way that caused many to question everything they thought they knew about Dallas.

But Prescott says that even though the performance was poor, the team's approach to next week can't change.

"You can't be shaken by it," Prescott said. "You can't change your preparation. Bad night. Bad timing for some turnovers. We just couldn't do anything on offense and, at the end of the day, it really goes to the third downs, third downs that were manageable, and we've been the best in the league [at those] but we weren't able to do that.

"That's why the score looked like that and why the game looked as it [did]. … But we're not gonna allow it to shake our confidence."

The Cowboys locker room wouldn't be human if their confidence wasn't dented a little after that beatdown. But now, attention turns to Monday night at the Chargers, who present their own set of problems.

Or so we thought.

Here we are, at the end of the week, and still talking about the 49ers' loss when the Chargers are right on Dallas' front doorstep.

Fans hoped the San Francisco loss wouldn't carry over into the following game, but the Cowboys are taking an awfully long time to move past it.

Will there be an emotional hangover at SoFi Stadium? Cowboys fans sure hope not.
