'That's What I Play For!' Dallas Cowboys MVP Favorite Dak Prescott Thinks of Super Bowl Push 'Every Day'

'That's What I Play For!' Dallas Cowboys MVP Favorite Dak Prescott Thinks of Super Bowl Push 'Every Day'

As Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took the podium following a 33-13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, he couldn't help but look ahead.

Sure, he and the rest of the Cowboys "take it one game at a time" in the NFL, but it's likely that Prescott felt what many around the league believed after a dominating performance on "Sunday Night Football": this team can go all the way.

The Cowboys have not won (or reached) the Super Bowl since the 1995 season, but getting to that point once again is the driving force for Dak and Dallas. It starts with taking care of business in the regular season, but the hard work and preparation is done with the Lombardi Trophy in mind.

“That’s what I play for," Dak said postgame on Sunday. "What this team plays for. Talking about a common goal. I’ve always mentioned that. That's what this team has their eyes set on. But obviously, we have to take it one game at a time."

This week was a hectic one for the Cowboys. Head coach Mike McCarthy had an emergency appendectomy just days before one of the biggest games of the year against the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas knew that a win at AT&T Stadium on Sunday would push it to first place in the NFC East, and it got that win with authority.

The focus this week was on Philadelphia, plain and simple, but "small" goals are set with larger ones in mind. Prescott is always, in a sense, thinking about the Super Bowl.

“Every day," Dak said. "That's part of running our own race. Every day. I've got different reminders throughout my daily routine. Things that I'm aware of perhaps. Alarms that I set. Different things throughout, but it just allows me to keep the goal in front of my mind. Allows me to be disciplined.

"You talk about sacrifice. You talk about doing something that you may not want to do at the time but doing it like you love it. When you have those little reminders and you have things like that, that just helps. Just locked in, focused. We have a great team, a great support system around that's doing the exact same thing and playing the part.”

The regular season road for the Cowboys isn't easy down the stretch. Dallas has games against the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions before closing out with the Washington Commanders in early January, and it will need to keep its foot on the gas if it wants to continue a push for a division title.

But if these comments from Prescott show anything, it's that the Cowboys aren't intimidated by what lies ahead. In fact, they're embracing it, and confidence may have never been higher in The Star.
