Cowboys plan to activate Ezekiel Elliott for Giants while releasing Alfred Morris

FRISCO - With starting running back Ezekiel Elliott being moved to the active roster, the Dallas Cowboys’ odd-man out will be journeyman running back Alfred Morris.
Morris signed a one-year deal and was at most of Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California.
Morris, 30, would have been a strong candidate for sharing play time with rookie Tony Pollard had Zeke not signed this week. The running back had a good stint Dallas in 2016 and 2017 after spending the bulk of his career in Washington and the 2018 season with the San Francisco 49ers.
I reported earlier in the week that Dallas would end up debating between releasing Morris and releasing the young offensive lineman Brandon Knight. O-linemen are presently such a commodity ... and that surely influenced the decision here.
So my first tweet on Saturday morning ...
I’m told the #Cowboys debate over who to release in order to activate #ezekielelliott is focused on a goodbye to classy vet RB Alfred Morris. pic.twitter.com/VkHz9mJt99

And then a follow-up response from my man Bryan Broaddus ...
Don’t believe it’s a debate. https://t.co/pPaS5asML0

And we're going to have ourselves a transaction.
The RB room now features the All-Pro Elliott, who will play Sunday against the Giants, as well as the promising Pollard and Jordan Chunn, who is a helper on special teams.
