New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones continued his fine 2023 summer by going eight of nine for 69 yards and a touchdown in his one series of play against the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium.

Jones, who likely won’t play again until the Giants’ September 10 season opener against Dallas, led the Giants 75 yards on a drive that only featured one rushing attempt (by Jones) and which otherwise might have been a perfect passing drive were it not for a drop by tight end Darren Waller after he got walloped by safety Vonn Bell.

But more importantly for the Giants, they got a good look at their starting quarterback behind the projected starting offensive line, and with all of his weapons sans running back Saquon Barkley on the field, Jones did not disappoint.

Four of his pass attempts went for 10+ yards, with one going for 20 yards, to Isaaih Hodgins on a 1st-and-10 for his longest completion of the night.

Jones also had one scramble for six yards.

"I felt good," Jones said after the game. "I thought we all felt pretty good. I thought we executed well. Guys were in the right spots and guys up front did a good job protecting and, yeah, I thought it was pretty clean."

Waller, making his Giants game-day debut, caught three balls for 30 yards, including a big 3rd-and-7 conversion that went for 12 yards.

"Yeah, I mean, he's a big target," Jones said. "He runs good routes, creates separation, he's an easy guy to find. So, yeah, he’s a talented player, smart guy, understands defense, understands where we're trying to use him and how to get open."

Jones’s last touchdown pass was to tight end Daniel Bellinger on a 2nd-and-4, capping the 10-play, 75-yard drive.

Tyrod Taylor replaced Jones in the next series. The Giants took at 21-3 halftime lead over the Panthers.
