Giants to Terminate Kenny Golladay's Contract

No surprise here, as the New York Giants - Kenny Golladay split has been anticipated for a while.

The rocky and unproductive relationship between the New York Giants and Kenny Golladay is about to end.

A source confirmed that Giants general manager Joe Schoen informed Golladay and his representatives that the team will release him from his contract on March 15, the first day of the new league year.

ESPN's Adam Schefter was first with the report of the pending transaction.

The move will be a straight release (pre-June 1), resulting in a $6.7 million cap savings and will take Golladay's contract off the Giants' books after this year, but will leave the Giants with a $14.7 million dead money cap hit.

Had the Giants designated Golladay as a post-June 1 transaction, the team would have saved $13.5 million and have taken a $7.9 million dead money hit this year and a $6.8 million dead money hit in 2024.

However, they would not have been able to use those savings on a post-June 1 transaction until after June 1.

The Giants have until March 15 to make a final decision on the Golladay transaction and whether it will definitely be a pre-June 1 cut or a post-June 1 cut.

Golladay played two seasons for the Giants, appearing in 26 games with 18 starts. He caught 43 of 89 balls for 602 yards and one touchdown. Golladay dealt with injuries for most of his time in New York but never seemed to fit into the current coaching staff's plans his past year when he was healthy enough to play.

Golladay, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal in 2021, was passed over by Richie James, Isaiah Hodgins, and Darius Slayton for game snaps.

Golladay collected roughly $40.455 million over his two seasons with the Giants.
