Daniel Jones Misses Second Practice This Week

In this story:
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, dealing with a neck issue from last week's game against Miami, was held out of a second straight practice this week by the team's medical staff.
Although head coach Brian Daboll hasn't ruled Jones out of Sunday's game, his odds of playing seem to be decreasing by the hour. Tyrod Taylor has been taking the first-team reps, and the team is expected to add quarterback Tommy DeVito to the roster, either via a standard practice squad elevation or through a regular roster move, depending on their needs for their ailing offensive line.
Tyrod Taylor Reveals Mindset if He Has to Start Sunday
Jones sounded ominous when he spoke to reporters on Wednesday, saying that playing was his goal but adding that he would listen to the advice of the doctors and trainer regarding his neck issue.
In 2021, he missed six games due to another neck injury that he said was a different ailment than what he's experiencing now and one for which he had an off-season procedure. When Jones dealt with that other injury, he could still go on the practice field and partake in his share of the reps.
In other injury news, left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring), center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder), tackle Matt Peart (shoulder), and outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari (ankle) will also miss a second practice this week due to their injuries. Those four, like Jones, are trending toward being inactive for Sunday night.
Receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) and inside linebacker Micah McFadden (ankle) were limited on Thursday after not practicing Wednesday. Punter Jamie Gillan (illness) was added to the report Thursday as defensive lineman D.J. Davidson (knee) and tackle Evan Neal (ankle).
Here is the full Thursday practice report. Bold denotes a change from Wednesday's report.
