Giants Hope Reinforcements Coming This Week

New York could be getting some key players back from injury this week, including left tackle Andrew Thomas.

The New York Giants breathed a sigh of relief after their 14-7 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, snapping a four-game losing streak.

While that seems like a drop in the bucket, given how the 2023 season has unfolded, the Giants could be in for more good news this week regarding getting some reinforcements back for their roster.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that left tackle Andre Thomas, who has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring pull in the Giants' Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, is expected to try to ramp up this week ahead of the Giants' home game against a well-rested Jets.

Thomas tried to return earlier, as Schefter indicated, but that attempt didn't go well. The team seems more confident that enough time has passed to where Thomas's hamstring should be in much better condition this time.

Schefter wasn't the only one touting a potential return of reinforcements for the Giants in the coming week. Several players excitedly spoke of getting some guys back without mentioning specific names.

Besides Thomas, the hope is that quarterback Daniel Jones, who was still not cleared for contact following his neck injury as of the weekend, would also be among those able to return from injury.

"I don’t want to speak for them and make a prediction that they’re going to play next week or not," said running back Saquon Barkley when asked about the possibility of getting some reinforcements back.

"They’re going through their rehab process, and we know that the trainers and the strength staff are going to do whatever they can to help them get back on the field as quickly as possible and healthy, but it’ll be really good to get some of our best players back on the field."
