Giants ILB Jarrad Davis Lands on Season-ending IR

Davis was expected to compete for a spot on the Giants linebacker depth chart.

The New York Giants have placed inside linebacker Jarrad Davis on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury in OTAs that required surgery, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Davis was acquired by the Giants last year from the Lions practice squad. Originally a first-round pick by the Lions in 2017 out of Florida, Davis played in 67 games with 50 starts for the Lions in 2017-2020 and again in 2022. (He was with the Jets in 2021.)

The 6-foot-1 and 245-pounder spent the 2022 season on the Lions practice squad before being signed by the Giants to their 53-man roster on December 28. He started the Giants' Week 18 regular-season finale against the Eagles, recording 11 tackles and a half sack. He then started both postseason games, registering seven tackles and one quarterback hit.

Davis has appeared in 68 career games with 51 starts. Over those games, he's registered 344 tackles (226 solos), 11 sacks, 24 quarterback hits, 20 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, one interception, and ten pass breakups.

The Giants have some questions at middle linebacker, namely how the rest of their depth chart will stack up behind newcomer Bobby Okereke. Among the candidates the Giants have on the roster are Micah McFadden, Darrian Beavers, Cam Brown, Troy Brown, and Carter Coughlin.

New York hosted a group workout this week, which included linebacker Kyahva Tezino, who recently completed his second season with the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL. Tezino, who played his college ball at San Diego State, recorded 94 tackles and two interceptions with the Maulers.
