Giants LT Andrew Thomas's Option Year Cap Salary Revealed

The Giants are expected to keep Thomas in blue for the long-term by exercising the option year on his rookie contract. Here's what it will cost them.

New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas recently completed his third season, thus making him eligible for a contract extension. However, with the Giants having some other priorities they need to address first, Thomas might have to wait until the other chips fall into place before he gets a second contract from the Giants.

That "wait" is just a formality as Thomas, who has blossomed into one of the best young left tackles in the league, will be a Giant for a long time. In the meantime, the team is expected to exercise the fifth-year option in the former Georgia product's contract, which will be $14.175 million, according to figures released by the league to teams.

Absent reaching a contract extension, Thomas would be eligible to collect that $14.175 million in 2024.

Thomas, who falls into the Category III list since he reached playing time criteria but unfortunately was snubbed for a Pro Bowl berth, loses about $2 million on his option year.

However, if the Giants, who are expected to exercise the option year by the early May deadline, get an extension done with the left tackle before he enters the option year, it might not end up mattering as much since the expectation is that the team will look to financially reward Thomas for his continued stellar performances.
