Former Giants coach Tom Coughlin, who was with the franchise from 2004-2015, has been announced as one of the 12 semifinalists in the Coach/Contributor category for consideration for the Class of 2024.

Coughlin was named one of the original 29 semifinalists on July 12, as were former Giants head coach Dan Reeves and former assistant coach Marty Schottenheimer. The Hall’s Coach/Contributor Committee reduced that list to 12: Coughlin, Reeves, Mike Holmgren, Frank “Bucko” Kilroy, Robert Kraft, Buddy Parker, Art Rooney Jr., Schottenheimer, Mike Shanahan, Clark Shaughnessy, Lloyd Wells, and John Wooten.

The selection committee will meet on August 15 to vote on one coach or contributor for the Class of 2024.

Coughlin's Giants head coaching tenure is the second longest in franchise history, behind Hall of Famer Steve Owen, who held the head coaching title for 23 seasons (1931-1953).

Coughlin, who had previously served as the Giants' wide receivers coach from 1988-1990 before moving on to Boston College and then later Jacksonville, finished 102-90 in the regular season and 8-3 in the postseason, including victories over the New England Patriots in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. Only Owen has more wins as a Giants head coach (151).
