The New York Giants jumped out to a 13-3 lead at halftime in their game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field Friday night.

All three of the Giants scores--two field goals by kicker Graham Gano and a touchdown by Tommy Devito to tight end Tommy Sweeney, came off two Lions turnovers and failed fourth-down conversion.

The Giants got off to a hot start, getting into Lions territory on two of their first drives as they built up the 6-0 lead on two Graham Gano field goals.

The first field goal, a 48-yarder, was set up when on the first play of the game, Lions quarterback Nate Sudefeld, on a pass intended for receiver Jameson Williams, was picked off by Giants safety Jason Pinnock as outside linebacker TOmon Fox got the pressure on the quarterback.

Pinnock returned the interception 17 yards to give his team 1st-and-10 on the Lions' 32-yard line.

The second Gano field goal, this one 42 yards, was set up after the Giants' defense managed to stuff the Lions on 4th-and-1.

The Lions finally got on the board on their third possession of the game on a 39-yard field goal by kicker Riley Patterson to cut the Giants' lead in half, 6-3. Giants cornerback Deonte Banks broke up a deep pass intended for receiver Chase Cota on a third-down conversion attempt.

The Giants recorded their first touchdown in the second quarter to make it 13-3 when Sudefelt threw his second interception, this one picked off by Giants safety Dane Belton.

On the ensuing play, DeVito, a New Jersey native and former Don Bosco Prep standout, found fellow Bosco Prep alum Sweeney on a 14-yard seam route for the touchdown.

The Lions threatened to get into the end zone with 54 seconds left in the half, but Belton got pressure on a blitz, and cornerback Cor'Dale Flott broke up a pass intended for Dylan Drummond on fourth down to give the Giants the ball back as time expired in the first half.

In other first-half news, Giants receiver Collin Johnson, who is trying to make a comeback from a season-ending Achilles injury suffered last summer, left the game early after suffering a knee injury.
