Giants-Washington game-day inactives

A look at who's in and who's out for today's Week 4 clash between the Giants and Washington, and the corresponding lineup changes.

This week's Giants injury report includes three players who were declared out Friday, two of whom play the same position.

RB Saquon Barkley (ankle): Barkley will miss up to eight weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain in last week's win over the Bucs. Barkley has 237 rushing yards on 37 carries with a rushing touchdown, and 11 receptions for 74 yards in his 10 quarters of play before his injury.

Barkley will be replaced by Wayne Gallman int he starting lineup, who told reporters earlier this week that he's been ready for this opportunity for a long time now.

"I view it as a big opportunity, an opportunity I’ve had since I came into the league," he said. "It’s unfortunate for my brother to go out, but this is what I’ve prepared for, this is what I have been preparing for, so I’m ready for it."

ILB Alec Ogletree (hamstring): The only other thing besides Ogletree's injury itself being frustrating is that it happened on a play that eventually didn't count. Ogletree strained his hamstring running back what he thought was a loose ball that he recovered.

"I kind of saw the ball falling and I was kind of just like ‘Well, I think it’s incomplete.’ I honestly thought it was incomplete. Then everybody was like ‘Pick up the ball, pick up the ball!’ So I picked it up and took off running," Ogletree said. "It’s one of those things, like I said, ‘Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.’"

ILB Tae Davis (concussion):  Davis was dinged on a special teams play, but he's not anticipated to miss too much time. Still, Davis was one of the back-ups inside linebackers, so with him and Ogletree sidelined, the Giants will probably run rookie Ryan Connelly and David Mayo in the base defense, with Nate Stupar on standby.  

The rest of the Giants inactives include:

QB Alex Tanney: He has been the third-string quarterback every week this season.

OL Chad Slade: Slade has been inactive every week thus far.

OL Eric Smith: Smith has also been inactive every week since being picked up off waivers.

TE Kaden Smith: This waiver wire pickup from the 49ers has yet to dress for a game. 

Two players who were healthy scratches for the Giants last week are active this week. 

Defensive back Julian Love, who thus far has only played seven snaps (all on special teams) this season will be in uniform today.  Also, tight end Garrett Dickerson will get his first gameday uniform.

Washington will be missing three-fifths of their starting offensive line. left tackle Trent Williams continues to holdout in the hopes of forcing a trade. He'll be replaced by Donald Penn, who has allowed six total pressures (no sacks) in three games this year.

Also starting center Chase Roullier will miss this week's game with a knee injury. And right guard Brandon Scherff (ankle), who came into the game listed as questionable, is inactive. ....

Receiver Terry McLaurin (hamstring), who had been listed as questionable coming into this week's game, is inactive. 

There had been some hope that McLaurin might be able to play this week, but the receiver, who has 257 receiving yards on 16 receptions and three touchdowns, isn't active.
