In this story:

Despite last week's ugly loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants 2023 regular season is far from over.

New York can right its ship this weekend with a win against the Arizona Cardinals, who barely lost to the Washington Commanders last week, 20-16. The Giants, who aspire to return to the playoffs for the second consecutive season since 2009-2010, have already put a dent in their hopes with their sloppy Week 1 loss.

How so? Besides losing a game to a division rival--those games count for a little bit more in the standings--since the NFL expanded its postseason in 1990, opening 2-0 has given teams a significant advantage toward qualifying for the playoffs.

In that span, 63.8 percent of teams that have started 2-0 have advanced to the postseason. In contrast, only 41.8 percent of teams that began 1-1 have reached the playoffs since 1990.

So it goes without saying that if the Giants, who, remember, started 0-2 in 2007 only to go on to win an improbable Super Bowl championship, want to make things a lot easier on themselves, they need to take care of business against the Arizona Cardinals and build up some momentum ahead of an even bigger litmus test coming four days later against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football.

Follow along as we chronicle the key plays, stats, and observations from the Giants-Cardinals game in our live blog, with contributions from Giants Country editor Patricia Traina and analyst Tommy G. Our live coverage starts at 3:30 p.m. ET.
