Giants Bring Back Receiver Sterling Shepard

In this story:
New York Giants receiver Sterling Shepard, whose contract was voided last month, is not quite finished with football yet.
Shepard is reportedly re-signing with the Giants on a one-year contract worth the veteran minimum. The pending transaction was first reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and confirmed by Shepard via his social media account.
Shepard, the Giants second-round pick in 2016, is the longest-tenured player on the team. The 30-year-old has been one of the more productive receivers for the Giants, posting 4,038 yards on 362 receptions and 22 touchdowns.
However, he's had injury issues that have limited him in five of his seven NFL seasons, including the last two in which he dealt with an Achilles injury and, this past year, an ACL injury that limited him to 10 games over the last two seasons.
Shepard had his contract amended last year to include a voidable year that hit last month but dumped $4.245 million in dead cap space into this year's cap. But despite his injury, Shepard remained active with the team down the stretch, serving as a booster and a de facto coach for his younger teammates.
Shepard is eighth on the Giants’ all-time list with 362 career receptions and 16th in franchise history with 4,038 receiving yards. He told Giants Country before the end of this past season that his rehab from a torn ACL was ahead of schedule and that he was confident about contributing to the team if they had him back.
