Giants Head Coach Joe Judge Safe, for Now

This year, the Giants will definitely be looking for a new general manager after making the long-anticipated news of Dave Gettleman's retirement official.

But for those hoping that they'd also be in the market for a new head coach, nothing has been decided just yet on that front.

As of Monday afternoon, Judge had yet to meet with Giants team ownership to discuss what went wrong in 2021 and how the 40-year-old head coach plans to fix it moving forward if he is retained.

Judge is facing several questions regarding an underperforming roster that was hit hard by injuries, wasn't exactly helped by some coaching decisions made that were head-scratchers.

He's also expected to present a list of potential candidates to address vacancies on his staff, of which offensive coordinator and, if reports of offensive line coach Rob Sale's departure being imminent, offensive line.

The Giants will begin a search for a new general manager immediately after the disappointing four-year tenure of general manager Dave Gettleman comes to a close.

Joe Judge will learn about his fate moving forward at some point this week from ownership. In the meantime, he's not wasting any time in getting right to work on fixing things for 2022.

As for Judge's status, the new general manager is expected to have a say as to whether the team gives Judge a third season. The Giants, in a team-issued statement, said they expect to begin their search for a new general manager immediately and that it will consist of a wide net.

Judge will get a chance to meet with all the general manager candidates being considered, but he's not expected to have a say in who the organization ends up hiring.

In the meantime, Judge, who is 10-23 in two seasons, held exit meetings with the players on Monday. Judge and his staff are expected to begin their off-season evaluations of the players immediately.
