In this story:
The New York Giants have announced the jersey numbers for two of their top free-agent acquisitions this season, one of whom will make franchise history.
Receiver Parris Campbell will sport jersey number zero, becoming the first Giants player to wear the number following the league's approval of entering the number into circulation on Tuesday.

Under the new rule, which the Philadelphia Eagles proposed, any player outside of offensive and defensive linemen can wear the number zero starting this season.
New tight end Darren Waller will wear No. 12 with the Giants, a number previously worn by now-retired quarterback Davis Webb.

Waller appears to be the first tight end in Giants franchise history to sport the number, which had previously been worn by quarterbacks, kickers, punters, and receivers per old league uniform number rules.
The last time a player wore No. 12 for the Giants for more than one season was from 2011 to 2014 when receiver Jerrell Jernigan sported the number.
One of the more recent and notable Giants to wear the number was receiver Steve Smith, who wore it from 2007 to 2010 as part of the 2007 Super Bowl season.
In other jersey number news, linebacker Bobby Okereke will wear No. 58, previously worn by long snapper Casey Kretier, who changed to No. 59.
No. 58 was once famously worn by Giants linebacker Carl Banks, the last linebacker to be drafted in the first round by the team.
