Salute to Service: Former Lions Travel to D.C. with Veterans to Visit War Memorials

Veteran's Day is a federal holiday that is celebrated annually on November 11.
Every year, the NFL and NFL Players Association work together to recognize members of the military.
In the month of November, the Salute to Service initiative involves planned activities, appreciation efforts and special events to honor veterans, active-duty service members and their families.
I have the honor of accompanying David Moore on today’s Honor’s Flight. David served in Vietnam as a sergeant in the AirForce.

Earlier on Saturday, 10 former Lions, including Lomas Brown, Herman Moore, Andre Fluellen, Eddie Murray and Corey Schlesinger boarded a flight to D.C. to visit the War Memorials.
Each was paired with a service veteran.
Some War Memorials visited already Saturday were the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Korean War Memorial.
Since 2018, the Salute to Service events have been presented by Humanetics.
Humanetics CEO Chris O'Connor is a retired U.S. Army Colonel. "It is a privilege to participate in Salute to Services and to support our veterans and active service members," said O'Connor. "The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families make tremendous sacrifices for our country and we are honored to give back to these real American heroes."
