Lions' Week 8 Thursday Injury Report

Lions released their first injury report ahead of Raiders game.

The Detroit Lions released their first injury report of Week 8 Thursday, detailing the health status of the team ahead of their Monday Night Football showdown with Las Vegas.

The Lions are in a unique situation, as the longer week of preparation precedes their bye week in Week 9. As a result, the team will have decisions to make against the Raiders with whether or not to play injured players.

Dan Campbell indicated that the team will not use the bye week as a potential decision-making factor when deciding on the game statuses of players such as Jonah Jackson and David Montgomery.

"I would say it doesn't. If we really felt like, man, we really get to this point where we think they can go, they're going," Campbell said. "If they can't, then they can't, and, really, the bye doesn't have much to do with that."

The Raiders are dealing with questions of their own, as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's availability is in question. He missed last week's game with a back injury but reportedly returned to practice Thursday.

"We’re prepared either way," Campbell said. "We’re assuming we’re gonna see Garoppolo, I don’t know why we wouldn’t. And if it doesn’t work out that way, so be it. We’ll be ready.”

Detroit's third-year head coach does not expect their AFC opponent to deviate too far from what they are known for offensively, no matter who is playing under center.

“I think we hang our hat on what their identity has been. There’s things they really want to do no matter who’s in there," Campbell explained. "They’re not gonna deviate too much from that. They’ll have a few wrinkles, but ultimately it’s about the scheme and those players that they have. The quarterback, whoever they have in there, is gonna facilitate the ball, run the offense, they play good defense. So we’ll take it as they comes.”
