According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Lions and general manager Bob Quinn are hosting running back Jay Ajayi for a workout today.

Ajayi, 26, is now recovered from his ACL surgery and most recently, had a workout with the Arizona Cardinals.

They ultimately decided to sign former Lions back Zach Zenner and traded for former Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake.

With the Lions not being able to secure a running back at the trade deadline, they are looking to add depth at the position.

Ajayi has rushed for 2,516 yards and 13 touchdowns with a 4.5 yards per carry average throughout his four seasons in the NFL.

The only running backs that the Lions have on the active roster that are fully healthy are rookie Ty Johnson and gadget back J.D. McKissic.
