With the trade deadline approaching quickly, rumors have started that Slay may be available.

Lions General Manager Bob Quinn has not shied-away from trading popular members of the roster, as evidenced by Golden Tate and Quandre Diggs being traded.

After the Lions traded a team captain earlier in the week, speculation has increased regarding Slay's interest and motivation to remain a Detroit Lion.

After an emotional media session Thursday, Slay attempted to ease the concerns of fans.

On Sunday, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter tweeted, "Here’s another name that bears watching as Tuesday’s trade deadline approaches: Lions’ CB Darius Slay, per league sources. Lions have gotten calls about Slay, though it would take a lot to pry him out of Detroit. But if there’s a CB-needy team out there, Slay will draw interest."
