SI Lions Maven Predictions: Lions-Bears

The Bears are due to win. And Khalil Mack is due for a big game. He finishes with five total tackles and a sack, and the Bears win. Bears 21, Lions 14

Injuries cold be the biggest story of this game. Not that I think Stafford won't play but apparently there are reports there is a chance he does not.

Even outside of Stafford, the Lions will likely be missing a few key pieces. As bad as Trubisky has been, the Lions defense won't be able to stop the run to force the game on to his shoulders. This game is a toss-up, but I have a bad feeling. Bears 23, Lions 20

Adam Strozynski

This really strikes me as a game of Strength vs. Strength and Weakness vs. Weakness.

The Lions are led by Matthew Stafford, who is on pace for a career year leading a top-5 offense.

He is going against a stingy Bears defense that is in the top-10, but better at stopping the run. I expect Stafford to exploit parts of the Bears secondary.

On the flip side, the Lions defense is quite awful. The Bears offense is in the bottom third of the NFL as well.

The Lions cannot stop the rushing attack of the Bears and Mitchell Trubisky has struggled in the passing game all season.

Expect Matt Nagy to dial up lots of run plays in a close one. Lions 24, Bears 23

Every week I drink the Kool Aid and predict a Detroit Lions win and this week is no different.

The Chicago Bears have a top-10 run defense but a couple of guys up front will be out of this one.

That should give running back Ty Johnson and company enough space to operate. The Bears offense has struggled all season, but so has the Lions defense.

However, the Lions defense has some playmakers and they will make plays against Mitchell Trubisky. He has shown that he wasn't worthy of his draft selection when he was chosen by Chicago.

Matt Patricia is a defensive guru, so we’ve been told. This is the opponent to right the ship and get this team back on track. I expect the Lions to put pressure on Mitchell Trusbisky in creative ways. Lions 21, Bears 16.

Brandon Justice

Matthew Stafford comes back to Earth against a stout defense.

However, Detroit's defense gets a redemption game against an abysmal Bears quarterback and offensive line. Darius Slay grabs an interception this week. Lions 24, Bears 16

Until the Lions prove the defense can return to making plays and forcing turnovers, it will be more of the same. The Bears will put up healthy numbers offensively against the Lions defense.

The Lions should find avenues to defeat the Bears due to the Lions having the edge at quarterback and an offense that can score touchdowns this week.

How both teams adjust to the weather conditions in Chicago will be telling.

Both times the Lions played the Bears last season, they were defeated. Look for the Lions to rebound this week on the road and earn their fourth victory of the season. Lions 24, Bears 21
