In this story:

Shaq Thompson injury update

"He did have a successful surgery this morning. He's doing well. He will likely miss the remainder of the season. Tough loss. Obviously, he's a great player. He's our emotional leader. I know the guys will pick it up for him and he's behind us and supporting us in every way that he can."

How to help Bryce Young

"Stay in phase is the big thing. Get the run game going. Felt like in Week 1 we did a good job with the run game. We were able to stay in phase for the most part. 150 yards rushing, that's always a good day for the most part. But in Week 2, we just got out of phase early. I think we had 25 plays the first half. The last 13 plays were two-minute, so you almost have to take those last 13 plays out and that leaves 49 plays. We got to continue to execute and not set ourselves backwards."

How to replace Shaq Thompson

"We'll probably address that as we go here this week. Scott [Fitterer] and I have talked. I've talked with EJ at length. We talked about a plan, but not ready to lay out exactly what that's going to be at this point. We'll look at all options. We have an initial plan in mind."

Kamu Grugier-Hill filling in at linebacker

"He played very well. He came in there and did a good job. That did not surprise me at all. I know Kamu. I've worked with Kamu before and as I've mentioned before, he's played some football. I coached against him when he was a starting linebacker for Houston. I have a lot of respect for what he did yesterday."

Laviska Shenault's touches

"We've got to do a better job of finding more ways to get him a few more touches. You saw the one run yesterday, he made a great individual effort on the run. And there was stuff up for him I can assure you that here and there. Some of it in Week 1 and to some degree in Week 2. But yeah, we have to continue to find ways to get Laviska involved."
