Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales will spend the next week making the transition from OC of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to becoming the head man in Charlotte.

He's more than likely already had a few conversations with some folks about joining his staff in Carolina, but there's one name in particular that we've been told to keep an eye on.

JC Allen of Bucs Gameday on FanNation told AllPanthers.com that Tampa wide receivers coach Brad Idzik is a potential candidate to follow Canales to Carolina, potentially for the offensive coordinator position.

Idzik entered the NFL coaching space in 2019 with the Seattle Seahawks as an assistant wide receivers coach and had a hand in the success of Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. Lockett crossed the 1,000-yard mark in each of the four years Idzik spent in Seattle and set a franchise record in 2020 for most receptions in a season (100). Metcalf also set a franchise record that same season, racking up 1,303 receiving yards.

This past year with the Buccaneers, Idzik helped produce two 1,000-yard receivers, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Statistically, the two notched the third-best totals of their respective careers.

Thomas Brown, the Panthers current offensive coordinator, is under contract but has interviewed for other jobs around the league. With Canales coming in, it's hard to see Brown sticking around.

Idzik's Coaching Timeline:

2014-18: Graduate Assistant, Stanford

2019-20: Assistant Wide Receivers Coach, Seattle Seahawks

2021: Offensive Quality Control/Assistant Quarterbacks Coach, Seattle Seahawks

2022: Assistant Wide Receivers Coach, Seattle Seahawks

2023: Wide Receivers Coach, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
