Panthers Re-Sign Long Snapper JJ Jansen

44 is back for another season in Carolina.

J.J. Jansen has seen a lot during his time with the Carolina Panthers and he's about to be included in yet another era of football with new head coach Dave Canales. Joe Person of The Athletic reported Friday afternoon that Jansen and Carolina have agreed to terms with the veteran long snapper on a one-year deal.

A couple of seasons ago, Jansen broke the franchise record for most career games played (226). That number is now up to 243. Per Person, Jansen wants to play until the age of 40. If he's able to do that, no one will ever sniff that record.

Jansen has played for John Fox, Ron Rivera, Perry Fewell (interim), Matt Rhule, Steve Wilks (interim), Frank Reich, Chris Tabor (interim), and now, Dave Canales. Although long snappers doesn't get a lot of attention, he's a key piece to the special teams unit. Similar to offensive linemen, the less you hear his name, the better.
