In this story:
It's cut day in the NFL and as teams begin to whittle down their roster to 53 players, there will be one or two players along the way that you don't expect the team to move on from.
Early Tuesday morning, the Panthers made their first surprise cut by releasing veteran linebacker Deion Jones, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Jones spent six seasons in the NFC South with the Atlanta Falcons where he recorded 652 tackles, 46 tackles for loss, 44 pass breakups, 20 QB hits, 11 interceptions, 8.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. He spent the 2022 season with the Cleveland Browns where he posted 44 tackles, six tackles for loss, three QB hits, and 2.5 sacks in 11 games (five starts).
