Dan Orlovsky on Who the Panthers Take at No. 1: 'My Gut as of Right Now is Richardson'

In this story:
Why is Dan Orlovsky's opinion so important? Well, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Orlovsky was offered a "prominent coaching role" by the Panthers and Colts this offseason.
Obviously, Orlovsky opted to stay put in his role with ESPN, but he really likes Carolina's plan at quarterback and believes there is an opportunity for the organization to own the NFC South for years to come.
How much of that plan does he know? He may not know exactly who the preferred guy is in the draft, but he has a pretty good feeling about it. It's not C.J. Stroud. It's not Bryce Young. He thinks it could be Florida's Anthony Richardson.
What QB do they go get?

My gut as of right now is Richardson. https://t.co/5HfzAckYlC
Just a couple of weeks ago during a segment of NFL Live, Orlovsky had an in-depth message to the Panthers - go get your guy.
"Carolina needs to take a rookie quarterback and they need to take one early. Where's the flaw of this roster? It's a pretty good football team. This is a team that is a top-10, potentially top-5 defense with all of their talent. The offensive line is going to get much better over the next year or two. Two decent backs. A really good wide receiver. With really good quarterback play...what team is going to jump in that division? Don't worry about New Orleans right now if you're Tampa Bay. Carolina, it's time to make the move. If you make the move, you can own the division for the next ten years given the salary cap issues that Tampa and New Orleans have. It's between you and Atlanta. That's how I feel about it. It's Carolina, Atlanta. Carolina, it's time to go. You have a quarterback as a head coach. Josh McCown is there. Those guys are going to develop a young quarterback. I love [C.J.] Stroud. I've said Stroud since day one there. If it's Anthony Richardson, I think with good coaching he could be an absolute rockstar in the NFL. I'm fine with Jimmy Garoppolo there. But we can't, if we're Carolina, continue to do the let's sign this veteran quarterback thing. This football team is way too talented and this division is way too below average to just sit there and say 'good quarterback play'. It is time Carolina. You're too good of an organization talent-wise to not get a superstar at quarterback."
